Story of Easter.. Holy Week.. Lent.. Bunny.. Egg.. ๐Ÿฐ

Lent:

The 40-day  Lent = meaning 'lengthen'.

๐Ÿ”น during which Christians remember the events leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ.

๐Ÿ”นJesus's life and teachings are the foundation of Christianity.

๐Ÿ”นChristians believe that this is to represent Jesus Christ's sacrifice when he went into the desert to pray and fast for the 40 days before later dying on the cross.

๐Ÿ”นLent ends with Holy Week, which leads to Easter Sunday - the most important day in the Christian calendar

๐Ÿ”นIt is a time of reflection and of asking for forgiveness, and when Christians prepare to celebrate Jesus's resurrection at the feast of Easter, which comes at the very end of Lent.

Ash Wednesday

๐Ÿ”นAsh Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, churches hold special services, at which worshippers are marked with ash.

๐Ÿ”นThis is a symbol of death and remembering bad things that we have done, and is where the day gets its name from.

๐Ÿ”นthe ash is made from burning special crosses made out of palm wood, which were used in church services on the previous year's Palm Sunday. It is sometimes mixed with special oil.

Good Friday

๐Ÿ”นThe Bible says that Christ died on the cross on a day called Good Friday. According to the Bible, Jesus was then resurrected and came back to life on Easter Sunday.

Easter tradition

There are also some more modern traditions to mark Easter which are very common - such as Easter eggs, the Easter bunny and chocolate.

Easter egg

A lot of us may chomp on chocolate eggs at Easter, but originally eating eggs was not allowed by church leaders during the week leading up to Easter (known as Holy Week).

So any eggs laid that week were saved and decorated to make them Holy Week eggs, that were then given to children as gifts.

Victorians adapted the tradition with satin-covered cardboard eggs filled with Easter gifts.

This has now developed into the tradition that many people enjoy today.

Easter Bunny

The story of the Easter Bunny is thought to have become common in the 19th Century.Rabbits usually give birth to a big litter of babies (called kittens), so they became a symbol of new life.

Legend has it that the Easter Bunny lays, decorates and hides eggs as they are also a symbol of new life

In Switzerland, Easter eggs are delivered by a cuckoo and in parts of Germany by a fox.

.. So now it is the time to celebrate the Easter 2022..wish you all a peaceful, happy, beginning for a new vision in this day , forget the past mistakes..learn the lessions...start again.. try again forgive again..keep moving
