Plant 04 കറിവേപ്പില BN: Murraya  Koenigi  Fam:Rutaceae നമ്മുടെ പാചകത്തിലെ ഒഴിച്ചുകൂടാൻ ആകാത്തതും എന്നാൽ  പാചകത്തിനുശേഷം തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കാൻ മടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ചെടിയാണ് കറിവേപ്പ് . നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി നമ്മൾ കറിവേപ്പില പാചകത്തിനായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നുണ്ട് എന്നാൽ തീൻമേശയിൽ എത്തുമ്പോൾ  കറിവേപ്പില എടുത്ത് നേരെ എച്ചിൽ പാത്രത്തിൽ ഇടുന്നു.  എന്താണ് കടുകു വറുത്തെടുക്കുക എന്ന വസ്തുതയുടെ ശാസ്ത്രീയ വശം എന്നറിയാമോ തിളക്കുന്ന എണ്ണയിലേക്ക് കടുകുനോടൊപ്പം ചേർക്കുന്ന കറിവേപ്പിലയിലെ ജീവകം പൂർണമായും എണ്ണയിൽ ലയിക്കുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് നമ്മുടെ പൂർവികർ കടുക് വറുത്ത കറിയിലെ കറിവേപ്പില എച്ചിൽ പാത്രത്തിലേക്ക് എറിയുന്നത്. ഇതൊക്കെ ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് വർഷങ്ങൾക്കു മുൻപേ മനസ്സിലാക്കിയത് കൊണ്ടായിരിക്കാം അവർ അത് ചെയ്തിരുന്നത് എന്നാൽ നമ്മൾ പാരമ്പര്യമായി അതിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ കറിവേപ്പിലയ്ക്ക് ഇത് കൂടാതെ തന്നെ ഒട്ടനവധി ഔഷധഗുണങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്.  ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യൻ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ സ്ഥിരമായി കാണുന്ന നമ്മുടെ കറിവേപ്പിലയുടെ ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം മുറിയ കുറിഞ്ചി എന്നാണ്. റൂട്ട് എസി സസ്യകുടുംബാംഗമാണ് ഇത്. സുഗന്ധിയായ വേപ്പ് എന്ന അർത്ഥത്തിൽ
